S/V Estrellita

Estrellita is a 27-foot Albin Vega built in 1972 or 1973. About 3400 of these sailing vessels were built in Sweden by Albin Marin AB between 1967 and 1978. Many Vegas have made long ocean voyages including some circumnavigations. As somewhat of a cult boat, there are several associations of active Vega owners around the world.

The star Vega is the brightest star in the constellation Lyra, the fifth brightest star in the night sky and the second brightest star in the northern celestial hemisphere, after Arcturus. Vega is one of the 30 stars used in celestial navigation.

The name Estrellita translates to 'little star' suggesting endearment when used as a diminutive form of address in the Spanish language. I purchased Estrillita in July 2011. She is currently moored at Wafarer's Cove Marina on the Neuse River at Arapahoe, NC.
