Semmering, Austria

At an elevation of 3000 feet, the village of Semmering has a population of about 600 souls and boasts one of the finest ski resorts in the Austrian Alps.  It is best reached by train taking two hours (local) or one hour (express) from Vienna or can be reached by auto.  The town has often been the host of the Alpine Skiing World Cup.
